Teeth whitening or bleaching is a very safe and popular way to give your teeth a whiter brighter more aesthetically pleasing appearance in a very short time frame. A smile conveys everything from confidence to happiness and in home bleaching can complete this process in as little as eight to ten days. The results are permanent but a professional touch up can be used periodically to maintain that beautiful smile.
Veneers are very thin laboratory processed porcelain that fits directly onto the existing tooth surface. A minimal reduction of tooth allows room for the veneers which transform existing broken, chipped or discolored teeth into beautiful professionally crafted enhancements to your smile. They are bonded securely to the front surfaces of your teeth. They are strong and less likely to stain and will enhance your smile for years.

Dental crowns provide the ability to restore cracked or broken teeth as well as the veneers. Crowns are sometimes referred to as “caps”. The difference is that veneers only cover the front surface of the teeth whereas crowns cover the entire tooth which serves to reinforce and strengthen the tooth. Orthodontic concerns can sometimes be resolved by straightening crooked teeth with the placement of crowns. A variety of new materials have allowed us to eliminate the use of metals that sometimes discolored the area around the gums. These newer materials allow us to create a beautiful natural looking appearance that will last for many years with proper oral hygiene.
Dental Bridge Work
When people are missing teeth due to a variety of reasons, they may have trouble chewing or be embarrassed about showing their teeth when they smile. We can change that picture and restore your smile to its original self or even better by using the highest quality materials that dentistry offers today. Dental bridge work bridges the gaps where teeth were missing and restores your smile to a beautiful natural looking smile. The bridges are permanently bonded or cemented into place avoiding the removal of a bulky appliance. They will provide years of excellent service combined with proper oral hygiene.
Composite fillings or tooth colored fillings are a new age of resin that is reinforced with silica particles in a small spherical shape to allow for strength, density and the ability to highly polish the restoration which results in the resistance to staining. They look very natural and are virtually indistinguishable from the natural tooth. They are used in the anterior and posterior teeth and also to replace old unsightly amalgam or gray fillings. They will also provide years of service but do need to be replaced periodically.
A dental implant is an artificial tooth root replacement and is used in prosthetic dentistry. There are several types of implants. The most widely recognized and accepted type of implant is the Osseo integrated implant. It was discovered that titanium could be successfully incorporated into bone when osteoblasts grew on and into the rough surface of the implanted titanium. This forms a structural and functional connection between the living bone and the implant. An Oral Surgeon or a Periodontist will place the implant and a period of three to four months is allowed for Osseo integration (the bone to grow into the implant). After that time frame the implant is uncovered and a healing cap is placed into the implant. This is where Dr McConnell and his experienced staff come in and place a customized abutment into the implant upon which a crown, series of crowns or a bridge may be placed. The crowns and bridgework can be secured to the abutment by either a fastening screw or more popularly by cementing the crown onto the abutment. This is a wonderful procedure for multiple missing teeth that can and will provide a beautiful and functional smile for a very long time.
